For students

Bachelor or Master Degree

If you are interested to work on Bachelor or Master degree under my supervision I'm happy to describe my scientific interests.

My scientific goals one can briefly describe as astroinformatics. I'm interested in all sorts of projects which concern astronomy (mainly globular star clusters) with non-trivial involvement of Computer Science (e.g. distributed data analysis, machine learning, high performance computing, numerical simulations). However, I'm open to be a supervisor for a project which would be solely astronomical or computer science.

Here are couple of example projects which could show students with more details what are my scientific interests:

Determining star cluster dynamical ages based on machine learning

We have many MOCCA simulation with detailed properties of star clusters for various initial parameters. The aim of the project is to gather a subset of the parameters (ideally a small one), train the machine learning algorithm, and eventually predict the dynamical age of any given star cluster based on such small number of parameters.

Further development of BEANS project

BEANS (https://gitlab.com/beans-code) is a web-based software for interactive distributed data analysis with a clear interface for querying, filtering, aggregating, and plotting data from an arbitrary number of datasets and tables.

field of research: computer science

Further development of Butchered Pig project

Butchered Pig (https://gitlab.com/ahypki/butchered-pig) is an attempt to provide simple but powerfull tool for scallable and distributed data analysis, which can be run even on machines with low RAM (e.g. desktop computers, laptops) with simple Pig Latin language.
